May 12 – International Nurses’ Day

Happy Nurses’ Day, fellow colleagues and friends. =)

I just realized that it’s May 12 – Nurses’ Day, as i was about to leave my ward after 10hrs night duty. Saw on the allocation book, a note on ‘Free lunch for nurses today’. nice!

Why celebrate Nurses’ Day?

This day is celebrated to remember all of the valuable contributions nurses make to society.

In January 1974, the decision was made to celebrate the day on 12 May as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing.
