Night sister

debrief of my nights as a RN with 13 patients –

1st night (Sunday night)

Thank God for the nap prior work. The prayers prior work. =)

His peace dwelled within, lasted me through the night.

10 hours. The clock started ticking.

It was quite a dramatic, eventful night for both my good experienced enrolled nurse and i myself who really thanked God for His provision of a good colleague.

some of the things that kept us busy & awake =P

dailed 33# (Emergency number) for the very first time. 3 seconds of hesitation.

called a CODE BLACK (personal threat of a pt under mental health detention)

a patient with cerebral oedema fell with a loud bang, unwitnessed (2nd fall in 2 consecutive nights!) thank God he’s ok

‘negotiating’ with non-compliance patients,

hourly neurological observation on a patient,

hourly recording heparin infusion volume,

answering patients’ call bells,

& lots of IV antibiotics.

Although it’s easy for me to grumble and complain, i chose to give thanks to God for sustaining us through the difficult dealings with patients.

Then the morning came…and all was good. =)

Just one particular thing i don’t  like about working nights is to wake patient up from their sleep for IV antibiotics.

One good tip: Always go back for 2nd with a hopeful heart. Hoping for a better night.

And it was better. even just a fraction.

Thanking God for His presence with me through the valley & mountains.

Thanking God for the courage and confidence.

James 1:2-8

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

listening to some hymns now that speak the content of my heart…

Learning daily surrender to His Lordship
